What can you expect in Spain?
- Salary: Up to $1640* per month.
- Accommodation: Our agent can assist with pointing you in the right direction for short and long term accommodation. Flat shares can often be found with local Spanish people.
- Locations: Madrid and throughout Spain
- Contract length: From 3 to 9 months. (renewable)
- Student age range: 5 – 70 years old
- Orientation and training: There is an initial introduction to the school and a short induction course wherever possible.
- Departure dates: Most months except May, June, July, and August.
- Teaching: You will be teaching with well-resourced schools and teaching a mixture of general English and Business English.
- Cost of living: Approximately $415* per month, transport to school will be with public transport (60 cents to €1 per journey)

Requirements for Spain
i-to-i's Overseas Partner requires that all candidates meet the following criteria:
- Native English speaker and EU Passport holder.
- TEFL qualification (100-hour or 120-hour TEFL course recommended).
- University degree is NOT necessary, but is preferred.
- Minimum age requirement 21 years of age
- A motivating, enthusiastic and outgoing personality
Frequently asked questions about teaching in Spain
1. What age and level of students will I be teaching?
You will be teaching students between 5 and 70 years old.
2. How many students will there be in each class?
Usually, there is a maximum of 10 – 12 per class.
3. How long are the classes?
Classes are 60 - 90 mins long.
4. Are there any teaching resources?
There will be plenty of resources available to you.
5. Will I be teaching alone or team teaching?
You will be the only and main teacher in the classroom.
6. What kind of school will I be teaching in?
Teaching is in private schools and you could be teaching youngsters or adults.

1. How much will I be paid?
Up to $1640* per month depending on hours.
2. How many holiday days will I receive per year?
You are entitled to school holidays and public holidays, which includes 3 weeks over Christmas and new year and 10 days over Easter.
3. What are my working hours?
Working hours are Monday to Friday and between the hours of 8am and 5pm. You would normally be working 4 -6 hours per day.
4. Can I renew my contract?
Your contract can be extended; you would need to discuss this with your school.
5. What happens if I need to break my contract?
You will need to give one month's notice.
6. What will my accommodation be like?
You will be given full support in finding your own apartment, often teachers take on departing teachers’ apartments.
7. What visas do I need?
No visas are required, applicants will need to have a valid EU passport.
8. How does the recruitment process work?
- Send required documents to i-to-i.
- Once documents have been sent to the in-country partner, you will receive a confirmation email with contact details for the partner.
- You will have to advise the agent of arrival date to Madrid where interviews will be arranged.
- If successful you can expect to be working within 3-5 days after arrival.
9. When should I book my flights?
It is your responsibility to book and pay for your flights, and to arrive in good time for your flight. We advise you refrain from booking your flights until you have signed your teaching contract.
10. Who is my contract with?
The contract you sign will be with the language school or institute that you will be teaching at, not with i-to-i or with our overseas partner.
