Spain is one of the most popular countries for both the first-time and seasoned TEFL teacher. It provides you the opportunity to get paid work in a great climate and live a laid back life-style. We have a limited number of placements in Madrid and other parts of Spain for i-to-i graduates of the 100-hour course. What’s more, not all the placements require a university degree. This is an ideal opportunity for the first-time teacher to get some experience under their belts.

By taking an i-to-i TEFL job in Spain you can earn anything up to $1800 per month depending on hours. Please note that these jobs are for an immediate start.
What can you expect in Spain?
- Salary: Up to $1800 per month. (Correct at time of publication).
- Accommodation: Generally flat share. Support and assistance given to find an apartment
- Locations: Throughout Spain
- Contract length: From 3 to 9 months. (renewable)
- Student age range: 5 – 70 years old
- Orientation and training: If arrival into Madrid you will be provided with a brief introduction. Most schools will provide some training but not all.
- Airport Pickup: If arrival into Madrid you will be met at airport. Some schools will provide airport pickup elsewhere in Spain.
- Departure dates: From September – April (Academic year is Sept – June)
- Teaching: You will be teaching with well-resourced schools and teaching a mixture of general English and Business English.
- Cost of living: Approximately $450 per month, transport to school will be with public transport (60 cents to 1€ per journey)
Requirements for Spain
- Native English speaker and EU Passport holder.
- TEFL qualification (100-hr TEFL Course included).
- University degree is NOT necessary, but is preferred.
- Minimum age requirement 23 years of age.
- A motivating, enthusiastic and outgoing personality.

1. What age and level of students will I be teaching?
You will be teaching students between 5 and 70 years old.
2. How many students will there be in each class?
You can expect to teach on a one-to-one basis or classes can be up to twelve per class.
3. How long are the classes?
Classes are 60 - 90 mins long.
4. Are there any teaching resources?
There will be plenty of resources available to you.
5. Will I be teaching alone or team teaching?
You will be the only and main teacher in the classroom.
6. What kind of school will I be teaching in?
Teaching is in private schools and you could be teaching youngsters or adults.

1. How much will I be paid?
Up to $1800 per month depending on hours.
2. How many holiday days will I receive per year?
You are entitled to school holidays and public holidays, which includes 3 weeks over Christmas and new year and 10 days over Easter.
3. What are my working hours?
Working hours are Monday to Friday and between the hours of 8am and 5pm. You would normally be working 4 -6 hours per day.
4. Can I renew my contract?
Your contract can be extended; you would need to discuss this with your school.
5. What happens if I need to break my contract?
You will need to give one month notice.
6. What will my accommodation be like?
Generally flat share. Support and assistance given to find an apartment.
7. What visas do I need?
No visas are required, applicants will need to have a valid EU passport.
8. How does the recruitment process work?
- Book chosen placement.
- Send requested documents to i-to-i Placements.
- Telephone interview is conducted with Partner in Spain via webcam, skype, or telephone.
