Country Guides: Egypt

Egypt was home to one of the greatest civilizations the world has seen: from 3200BC, this ancient kingdom developed art and architecture that has drawn visitors for 5000 years. Its hieroglyphics, mummies, sphinxes and, of course, pyramids make the Land of the Pharaohs a magnificent destination.

Getting around Egypt is easy and options range from the modern buses, taxis and boats to the more traditional donkeys and camels. Although there has been an increased risk of terrorist attacks in recent years, the vast majority of Egypts 8 million annual visitors have a trouble-free trip.
