The country that brought the world samba, bikinis and Carnaval is naturally a fun place to be. But there isn't anything typical about Brazil. While the moneyed live it up on the beaches in Rio, the poor struggle to carve out a life in the favelas (shantytowns). These disparities add to the rich fabric of life in Brazil that has attracted people from across the globe.

The south of the country has its blonde haired Brazilians of German descent, while Sao Paulo is enriched by Italian, Arab and Japanese influences. It also stands apart as being the only South American ountry with Portuguese as its main language.
