Jobs are most commonly found in the larger cities and this is where you will find the highest wages but competition is fierce and the job hunting process can be long and hard. Not so with a TEFL Job Abroad!

What can you expect China?
- Salary: 6,000RMB approximately $730 where accommodation is provided. Salary increases to 10,500RMB approximately $850 where accommodation is not provided..
- Accommodation: Where provided, accommodation shall be shared with one other teacher. Accommodation is not provided in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
- Arrival: Candidates are met at the airport and taken to accommodation. Where accommodation is not provided, applicants shall be provided with 2 weeks accommodation in a hotel.
- Locations: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Daqing, Hangzhou, Xian, Shenyang, Tianjing, Chengdu, Urumqi, Harbin and many more.
- Contract lengths: 12 months (contracts renewable)
- Departure dates: Throughout the year
- Student age range: 4 – 70 years old.
- Orientation and training: Full orientation and induction.
- Teaching: Schools average around 10 teachers per school and most are well-resourced.
- Cost of living: It is possible to live very cheaply in China if you eat local food from local food stalls and restaurants – 3 dishes with rice for 2 is roughly 30RMB in Shanghai. However, Western restaurants and supermarkets can be very expensive with a TGI Friday burger setting you back around 100RMB. Most local journeys on public transport cost from 1 – 3RMB with long distance travel around 400RMB per 1000km on a sleeper train. The cost of living is approximately £200. Requirements for China
i-to-i's Overseas Partner requires that all candidates meet the following criteria:
- Native English speaker.
- TEFL qualification (100-hour or 120-hour TEFL course recommended).
- University degree holder.
- Minimum age requirement 20 years of age
- Minimum of two years teaching experience required for: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

You will be teaching students between 4 and 70 years old

Usually, there is a maximum of 18 – 20 per class.

Classes are 80 - 120 mins long.

5. Will I be teaching alone or team teaching?
You will be teaching alone.
6. What kind of school will I be teaching in?
You will be teaching in private English language schools.

2. How many days holiday will I receive per year?
You are entitled to 11 days holiday plus 11 national holidays.
3. What are my working hours?
24 contact teaching hours ever week. Teachers have two consecutive days off in the week and work weekends.
4. Can I renew my contract?
Your contract may be extendable; you would need to discuss this with your school.
5. What happens if I need to break my contract?
Pro-rata payment of flight and other costs only.
6. What will my accommodation be like?
Accommodation where provided shall be shared with one other teacher. Where no accommodation is provided, full support shall be given in sourcing accommodation.
7. How does the recruitment process work?
Applicant has a telephone interview to assess suitability and is then put in direct communication with the placement school.
8. When should I book my flights?
It is your responsibility to book and pay for your flights, and to arrive in good time for your flight. We advise you refrain from booking your flights until you have signed your teaching contract.
9. Who is my contract with?
The contract you sign will be with the language school or institute that you will be teaching at, not with i-to-i or with our overseas partner.
10. What visa do I need?
Our in-country partner will advise on the visa process and requirements for this. It is important that you meet all the requirements outlined for the placement as some or all of these may be essential requirements to get the correct working visa.
