Don't know much about Ecuador?

Ecuador is one of the most diverse countries on the planet with a pacific coastline to the west, a mountainous mid-section and tropical rainforest to the east. The Galápagos Islands, home to some of the world's most precious plant and animal species, lie just off the west coast in the Pacific Ocean.

The natural beauty of the country is astounding, the locals are warm and welcoming and the demand for qualified TEFL teachers is high. And while teaching wages are modest, so is the cost of living so you'll be able to live well by local standards. Ecuador is a fantastic destination for TEFL teachers wanting to live and work in South America.

I taught English in the National High School, Galapagos. Apart from the communication problem, it was a wonderful experience and I found living and working in the local community to be vastly different from being there as a tourist. I think my greatest contribution was working with the English teachers in Galapagos who were very keen to better their English and bombarded me with questions, some of which were very challenging. I felt they would be able to pass their increased knowledge of the language on to future generations.
