Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHey, I just read a post that you left on akamineh's profile on adapters and converters and it was really useful. Sorry for snooping lol,
How are your plans coming along? I got my visa today so I'm over the moon :)
hahaha...i must look like a complete idiot, i cant stop laughing...i don't know why I thought 180 days was 3 months...failed! anyways, thanks for that...see you in China!
Thanks for the handy info about the adapter! Too bad about the expensive shipping rates.
I got this Mandarin language learner thing to give me a headstart on learning the language before I actually arrive in Beijing, though I'm not getting very far. A family friend insisted I be prepared to bargain and haggle when I go shopping in China so I felt it'd be more appropriate for me to be able to speak some instead of just carrying around a calculator and pointing at the price I want. Have you learned any Chinese at all?
...I thought your name was Wilson! woops! :) haha
I commented on your discussion for those of us who are 'weekenders' turns out I foolishly made my flight to land in Beijing on the 18th instead of the 19th. Thanks for the sweet and very helpful insurance information as well, I'm about to check that out as soon as I finish writing this comment. At least you made to-do lists, I had to put everything on a backburner when I decided I wanted to take the GRE before leaving. Then when I got my invitation letter, I thought, hmm, maybe I should start doing stuff for China now. haha!
Did you already buy some adapters or converters? I found some at the store, Brookstone, but I feel there are other less expensive places to purchase them. By the way, thanks for the add too!
Hello how are you?
I have no idea how to work this chalkboard lol! Anyway I am so looking forward to heading out to China for the Internship in August! I'm a bit like you with the 'to do lists'!
U excited about going?
Awesome - good luck! I can't wait to get mine!!! The day I do I am heading down to Toronto to get it all sorted out - My parents are anticipating this so its nice to work with them :) TTYL
I think TTC said to let them know - through whoever you are talking to - I know I talk to Cheryl and she is a great help. Because I will be there early I am heading to the training site myself on the 23rd, but if you are going to the course on the weekend then I think you just let them know your date and time of arrival. Although i don't think they are expecting this until after you get your letter because they said not to book flights until after just in case - but I have anyways. :) Good luck to ya.
I used bu yao more often than any other phrase while I was there - but then again my friends and I would usually flock to the touristy areas in Shanghai. Good Luck! Let me know if you have any questions - Oh and the trick with tonal (not joking) use a pen or chopstick or whatever and make yourself the conductor as your are saying them - it actually helps (I know plenty of people who did it). TTYL, Caley
Hey. congrats on completing the course! I've was slacking for two weeks after seeing Checkpoint three! Hopefully, I will finish it off tonight.
