I am 23 years old and I finished college in 2009. I am looking to sign up for a 100 hour course and hopefully leave to teach abroad later this year. I am open to different places to teach. I just arrived home from Europe a month ago (backpacking) and I am anxious to get back abroad to explore more places. There's no difference really between TEFL and TESOL courses - they both train you to do the same thing - teach English!
In terms of finding work before you complete your course it just depends where you want to teach - in countries where demand is high (like China) it's not a problem, but if you're planning on teaching in Europe where there aren't as many jobs, you'll probably need to complete your course first or it at least get it underway. Where are you thinking of heading?
Hey Tyler,
Welcome to Chalkboard - that's great you're thinking about getting TEFL certified - where in Europe are you hoping of teaching?
To get you started you might want to chat to a fellow American who's just got a job in Eastern Europe (Ukraine) for some advice: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/spiwak432
