Still finishing my online course but have arranged week at Pueblo Ingles end of June and as conversational assistant in Jaen for July via Berlitz. Thanks for advice received via chalkboard.
Just leaves me with August to try and find some more Summer work and long term - looking for longer contract in Madrid or Barcelona. (did a few days ther in April handing out CV to some schools but no joy).
Can anyone offer any help re getting something for August as most camps appear to run June/July ?
Seen some adverts re registering CV for Summer work via Tecs.es website - Has anyone had any experience of this.
Thanks

I seen a few in Italy that ran in August until September?

Hi again,
Unfortunately, it's the same right across Europe - everything shuts down in August and things don't get going again until September or even October. I've got a summer camp job in the UK and although they hire me for six weeks, they can't actually guarantee the two weeks in August.
It's worth bearing in mind that if your plan is to teach long-term in Europe, you need to save enough money to tide you over during the summer months if you are not prepared to work in summer camps. Even if you do take summer camp work you need to save enough to cover you from late August to mid-late Octoberor even early November when you receive your first paycheck for the academic year.

Hi Briona,
Thanks for the info.
Maybe need to revisit my options for August -(my Summer camp job finishes 27 July) & see if anything elsewhere in Europe.
Cheers Steve,
Hi there,
I'm afraid that finding work in Spain in August is highly unlikely. Although summer camps tend to run from July-August, there's not much August work (student numbers are far lower than in July) and what little there is will be taken by the people who've been working in the camp for the previous few weeks. Language schools close down entirely in August and don't re-open again until September. Therefore, I'd sack off Pueblo Ingles (which does little to impress employers anyway!) and try and get work with a summer camp for July and hope that you will be one of the chosen few who gets the two or so weeks' work in August.
Incidentally I applied to TECS a couple of a years ago but had huge problems with their online form. I had to download the Word version, overtype it and email it back to them. I ended up taking a job in Vietnam that summer instead. I was later offered an interview for one of their academic year jobs but I turned it down as I had just accepted another job. They seem like a good enough outfit to work for though - it'll definitely be hard work but it's probably worth it as you might get offered an academic year job at the end of the summer.
