First post! Woo!

Right then.  Just looking for any helpful information, really.  Looking to teach in Japan.  Anyone with information on how to get started (aside from a TEFL certificate) and wants to help me, believe me the help is appreciated.

Perhaps I should clarify.  I meant sexist and ageist as it relates to hiring foreign teachers to teach English.  The society in general is definately not ageist....sexist? well lets just say many American women would not tolerate having a Japanese husband.  Lived in Osaka.

Well I'm sorry you had such a horrible time in Japan.  Racist, maybe to a degree  I did get kiked out of a starbucks for being white while on a trip to Kanda.  Sexist and 'ageist'?  Not so much.

FYI I was Stationed in Yokosuka for two years.

I lived in Japan for 17 months in 2008 - 2009.  I did not teach while there but I can tell you my impressions.  The Japanese are sexist, ageist and racist.  They tend to hire young females when hiring foreign teachers.
