Hey fellow TEFLer's! I'm new to the Chalkboard, but I thought I'd put in my two cents. I'm taking TEFL with the goal of teaching English overseas. I'm currently tutoring three middle-school age girls from Nepal, so it has been a real learning experience learning to teach English while at the same time having hands-on practice actually doing it. What I learn in the course, I immediately use with my students.
I currenly work in the very multicultural city of Lancaster, PA. Since I work in refugee resettlement as a volunteer, I constantly interact with people of other nationalities and cultures. I'm passionate about seeing my international friends resettle, learn to speak the language, and thrive in my country.
I also am learning a second language. English is my first language. I'm considering taking on a 3rd, due to communication difficulties with a refugee family I work for. Anybody out there who speaks Nepalese and wants to teach me? ;)

It IS a difficult language, no kidding. My first 1/2 year of study was exruciating. But it's possible.
Ohh awesome! I guess there are a fair few opportunities out there, although a lot of the Middle East want good qualifications. Arabic looks like a difficult language, but an interesting one :)
@Mahalath I have a dream of TEFLing in the Middle East, but we'll see. I'd also love to see Ecuador, Peru and the Amazon. So many options ...! My 2nd language is Arabic.
Hey! Where are you thinking of TEFLing? Also, what second language are you learning?
