Hiya!
 
My name's Mark and I've just finished my TEFL training with i-to-i.
 
I'm going to be starting my teaching adventure in Thailand with the AYC Internship in October and it would be great to talk to any other interns, plus those who have experienced living/teaching in Thailand.
 
A little history: I'm 27, from Scotland, and have a degree in Computer Arts from Abertay University Dundee. I've been working as a Graphic Designer for the past 3 years but have finally plucked up the courage to quit my job and travel the world as a TEFL Teacher!
 
I love photography, illustration, music, films, cycling, and playing the guitar.

Hey Mark, I read your blog on teaching with AYC. I had recently been offered a contract with them myself, and I was wondering in particular if anyone was brought out to the seminar in Bangkok but then were unable to find placement in a school? The contract does not stipulate a start date of getting paid, so I was worried that I may end up going out and then they don't get enough placements by the end of the week for all the teachers...! Hope you are well :) Thanks for reading!

Hi Mark, just joined that facebook group you have set up and thought I'd say Hi.  Youve completed the TEFL? well done you, I'm getting there slowly!  Have you been to Thailand before? I went a few years ago and did some backpacking, loved it so much I can't wait to get back there! The teaching things new mind you.

Hiya, I got my paperwork from Thailand through this morning too - I have no idea what to do with it though? As you say its all written in Thai! Are you sending the whole document through to Hull? I need some advice on what to do with that!


I'm now through to the last checkpoint of the 60 hour section of the course so getting there - finish work on Friday so have 6 weeks or something like that before we go off! Moving back to Kent as well so all change...you booked your flights yet? I should really get my arse into gear! I find that work takes up all my time and I forget that this is happening! That will all change Friday though - can't wait!


You seem much more organised than me on all this...

Yo Yo Mark, how are you? This is a first to me too. Well the teaching is. i've been to Thailand a couple of times. It's all a bit scary really but looking forward to the adventure. You living in glasgow at the moment? I'll be there from the 14th-18th of Oct if ur about. Be nice to meet at leat 1 person before I go. There doesn't seem to be any others from Ireland! If not, I'll be seeing u in Bangkok. Take Care

Its great to meet another fellow intern! Have you travelled before or taught abroad? I'm completely new to all of it and im split between being uber excited and nervous at the same time!


I think you're the first intern ive spoken to who has completed the TEFL course - im still ploughing through it all. I  can't wait to finish period of resignation in work so I can start getting ready to go, despite the fact ive pretty much got no idea what ill need to take with me! Maybe you already have some ideas?  Anna x
