So... I've emailed my cover letter and CV to a few schools today that I might qualify to work at. So... *crosses fingers* I hope something good comes of it. I need good news since nothing is panning out here in Serbia for me which sucks because I'd rather stay here. I already know the city, know some people, slowly working on the language... *sigh* cause you can't always have your cake and eat it, too. At least not starting out. So we will see!

One school in Rybnik, Poland and one in Donetsk, Ukraine. So I'm filling everything out they want. Both offer about the same. The Polish school has a staff of nothing but English speakers. Ukraine's school is full of native Ukrainians. Both offer accommodations. Both have similar pay and vacations. Rybnik is a small/medium sized down near Czech and Slovakia. Donetsk is the 5th largest in Ukraine. The one advantage to Poland is it is an EU country. Once you have an EU work visa it is MUCH easier to reapply for one, which means work anywhere for me. Blah! I don't know!!! Hahaha...
9 DAYS!? Goodness!!!!! I know I'd be all those feelings too. I was like that when I left the US for Serbia. And then I'll more than likely be doing it again here in a couple of months. Except this time I won't know ANYONE when I land.. I knew my boyfriend when I came to Srbija at least.
Have you heard anything from the other schools yet?? 9 days now!! I am nervous, excited, scared, worried, happy. all at once!! What a strange feeling!! Not ready just yet... I have to sell everything in my flat, so that has to be pretty much last minute!!
I have one TEFL certificate one. i-to-i will be my second one. I have tried to find a job here in Serbia but it's super hard. Most require that you know Serbian fluently which I don't. And it's a very hard language to learn. I'm working on it, but it's going to take a little time. I did get a bite from one of the Polish schools tonight. They wrote back asking me to fill out their app and send in a photo. I've got 3 days to respond to them. But I'm going to wait a day or so to see if any of the other schools write back. I don't want to take the first thing that is thrown at me but I don't want to not take something if I don't get anything else either. So I'll see wht happens in the next day. If nothing then I'm applying for Poland and hoping getting that job. I'll at least get to spend the summer with my boyfriend.
That's AWESOME you and your boyfriend are going together!!! I'd like that too, but my honey is much better with politics. I love my little politician. Hehehe. And because I love politics it's a nice balance for me personally. I get my creative side fulfilled with teaching and my brainy left side with politics and him! 11 days!?!? Are you ready!?!
He will be, we are not there yet... (11 days to go!) But yes, we are both going to be working at the same middle school, so it should be fun! To experience those things together you know? Can you not teach in Serbia? Have you completed your TEFL certificate, can't remember if you said you did or not?
Definitely hope so. That's cool about your boyfriend. Mine is into economics and politics. Politics is my other love. But I always have to keep the two separate. My boyfriend is aiming to work in the ministry here in Serbia if not higher one day. He's involved in all the right ways to succeed with those goals too. We are very supportiv of each other and that's the most helpful thing aboit it all. Is your boyfriend over there with you?
Yes, things'll all work out in the end i am sure!! A lot of schools are interested in taking you on, as soon as they know you are over half way to completing your degree! :) Yes, I think I sometimes take it for granted as I am a UK citizen, that anyone can work in Europe, 'til you read how hard it can be for some! Now we are part of the EU, I don't even think we need Visas. Not sure though! As I said before, its being without a degree that hinders me. :( Will your boyfriend not take up teaching also? Mine was a welder by trade, but when he found out I was looking into TEFL, he looked into it himself and now, I would say, he's nearly as excited as me!! :D
What sucks is I have a year left until I finish my bachelor in international business. The other big thing holding me up is not being from an EU country. That's one reason I was hoping for Ukraine so much. It's my heritage and it isn't EU but they still require degrees and CELTA mire than TEFL. I'm trying to stay in Europe due to the fact I just moved to Serbia to be with my boyfriend so we wouldn't be separated anymore. Now. It looks like I have to leave again. He and I both accept this possibilty and do what what we can to see each other when able. Luckily tickets won't be too bad if I can stay in Europe. Blah. It's all kind of disappointing and it gets hard to continue to have faith something will come through. But for now I'm holding.
Oooh lovely! I would of loved Spain myself!! Being degree-less is a real pain!! :( Poland has always appealed to me too! Didn't you say your heritage is western european? I'm sure that'll go in your favour!!
Thanks!! I've applied for a school in Spain and a couple scattered through Ukraine and Poland. Just found another one I'm going to try and apply for in Spain I think. Want to look into the school more first though.
Good luck on the job search!! Where have you applied to?
