About Me

I am a city college student that is working my way to becoming an TESL but, first I am planning to transfer to a school that has a better ESL program.  Since I was little I have always enjoyed travelling and wanted to travel the world as my job and I have found that its possible to travel and enjoy great benefits by helping people learn English.  Since having found this job niche I have been fascinated with it.  I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that i will be paid in the country that I will be going to.
Last year 2008-2009 I was an exchange student in Taiwan and it was the best year of my life so I am confident that I can handle being a TESL.  Through my exchange Ihave learned about Taiwan culture, languages, and how to handle being a foreigner in another country for more than just a couple weeks.  Because of needing to learn the language to eat I am now Bilingual speaking both English and Mandarin Chinese.
I have a confession to make...I love anything Asian!  The cultures, the languages, people, anything and everything is just simply fascinating to me.  My facebook is even in Traditional Chinese.
Thank you and I hope we can become friends. *bow*

Feeling Freedom

Feeling Freedom Whitney 吳思妮 I honestly have no idea why I am writing this but I have always been in love with Japan.  Sometimes I catch myself and think of how I could possibly love a country I have never been to...it might be because I get tears in my eyes and feel such a longing that I fear I might break whenever I see a picture of Japan.  The landscapes are just so gorgeous...

Ni hoa, Wo hen hoa. Wo joa Nina. I know a little bit of Manderian. I was hoping if you could tell me a little bit more of what its like in Taiwan and also what its like to teach there. Because I want to teach young children there most likely independently but it all depends on how much they get payed there.

Thank you Honor!  I sent you a private message to your Inbox to answer your questions. >< I hope that is ok.

Hey,

Welcome to Chalkboard! The one on my profile picture was taken in Xi'an, China. I (Honor - your site editor!) have been to teach English in China, but the pic wasn't one I've taken, if that makes sense!

So, are you thinking of going back to Taiwan to teach English, or are you going to be heading to China? Full respect to you for managing to learn how to speak Mandarin - I did it at school and spent time in China and still can't say much more than 'where's the toilet' and 'that's too expensive'!

You seem really clued up about TEFL/TESOL and all your plans, but if you need any help with different course options etc give us a shout on here or call us at 800 352 1793.

Hello, I went to all of those taken actually, I was backpacking and went to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.  The photo was taken in Halong bay. ?Are you on a Tefl course? have you done any teaching yet?
