Before I visited Japan, I found the best way to get knowledge on life in Japan was to find other people who already were living there, obvious idea some people may think XD But, never under-estimate the medium of Youtube, as I found so many great "vloggers" (Blogging via video) who gave me alot of insight into it all and I've been following their journies since my journey in 2008.
- An amazing vlogger Rodger Swan, who managed to succeed in applying for JET twice, once in Tokyo and again in Iwate. Unfortunately, he passed away earlier this year, which was truly upsetting for myself and many of his fellow followers. His videos still manage to give inspiration and information to those who are also willing to teach in Japan: http://www.youtube.com/user/rodgerswan
- Kevin Cooney, also known as TokyoCooney has been living in Japan as a writer and entertainer for some years now, his vlogs are a never ending source of information, mixed with comedy to give a light hearted idea on insight into the culture:http://www.youtube.com/user/tokyocooney?feature=chclk
- TkyoSam has some great entries on teaching in Japan, if not hilarious at times! Some basic ideas of how to live from a younger persepctive. Showing you the nightlife and other popular trends: http://www.youtube.com/user/TkyoSam
- Ciaela is attending school in the Fukuoka Prefecture and has been for four years, she has uploaded some great entries on her daily life and how she gets on living within the Japanese culture: http://www.youtube.com/user/Ciaela
- LA CARMINA is a great entertaining host, giving you insight into Visual Kei (Gothic Lolita styled extreme fashion in Japan) hardcore rock bands and cooking, they go surprisingly well together! http://www.youtube.com/lacarmina
Also, for your viewing pleasure, my own collection of vlogs from my visit: http://www.youtube.com/user/ShiverZ66#grid/user/F1C0F24826307C11
Hoping to book my "introduction trip" this coming week, I'll let you know how that goes!
