I'm only now orgainising my placement. I should have a phone interview tomorrow or sometime this week.
And yes, I'm dealing with Masako, whose been quite helpful.
Did you get much choice when choosing a job?
Hey the only talk of a different school I heard from Masako was an email I received at the start of March asking me if Ms Plah offered me Patai or St Louis College and I simply replied Patai because I had never heard of St Louis College she simply replied Thanks. So i may send an email to her to confirm the school after you and emily both have been given different schools!
Is anyone else going to St Louis College in Chachoengsao?
hey guys!!
having trouble loading a photo up on this site so if any of ye want to find me on facebook, im the cartoon picture of beans on toast under name Jill Heffernan!! nickname is beans thus expaining the profile pic!! speak to you guys soon..4 weeks to go...!!
Hey guys!
yeah, def want to travel on our off time but not sure how many days togther we can get! i know a lot of people go to Ko Chang in the East (further east from Pattaya) on weekend breaks from Bangkok. I dont think the islands down south are realistic with only 2 days. but loads to see outside the city on th weekends! and IN the city..god really cant wait now!!
I agree I plan on travelling too I don't think there is any point going all that way and staying in Bangkok for the entire time!
I DEFINITELY plan on traveling and would love a companion!!
Ah thanks Mel.. not so worried about the bank account situation now. i know i have my accomodation sorted within the school grounds luckily. even though we're all going to different schoo across Bangkok, i really hope we can do stuff at the weekends together, I was hoping to do some travelling in between teaching times... like a weekend trip to the southern islands, ko phangnan and ko samui... would anyone else be interested (if its possible with timetables etc ) in doing that kind of thing? xx
Hello!
It is my understanding that part of the supported teaching program with i-to-i included someone helping us set up a Thai bank account and get a phone. We will be paid in baht. It is possible to have money transferred from your Thai account to your home account. They also will help us find an apartment -- one of the other girls on here said that masako said the school has housing for its teachers. I learned from Ms. Plah that the school will provide yardage of material for us to have our uniforms tailor made (which is actually quite inexpensive to do in Thailand).
I am personally choosing to trust that they are just more laid back over there. I am arriving on the 7th and hope someone can pick me up a day early!
also just to add - if you only signed up for the 5 momth contract and they think your going for 11, then its actually a fault of I-I - and shouldnt be a problem?? Iam printing off all emails from the start between myself and Laura in the jobs team, Masako and Ms Plah. Then ill probs highlight important bits that show stuff like what kind of accomodation ive been promised, how long the contract is for, hours work per week etc etc. My thinking is though, that they're just a bit scatty over there and because we're such an organised nation and we do everything in the west so regimented and precise it just seems like they're not on top of it all. but im sure they are... just very relaxed and chilled out about stuff! any thoughts?there is a good chance im talking utter nonsense here but it makes me feel less nervous xx
