I would love to teach in Thailand and China. I love to travel and it is in my heart. I feel that doing a TEFL course will provide a worthwhile education to people interested in learning my mother tongue. Also I feel a TEFL course will enable me to travel and work for the rest of my life.

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHi friends thanks for these comments they are helping. In answer to your question Kim, I have not signed up yet. I am trying to work out how to fund the internship. Cheers Tony will check out those funding options and see where it leads me. So are you guys going this August?
hey sandy, I've only started the TEFL course & am on module 4. From what I can see see so far, you don't have to be amazing at english to do the course itself - it's pretty straightforward & sensible. As for teaching english, I suppose it depends what level you're teaching to?!
Tips for standing up in front of people & talking? From my (very) limited experience, first of all be prepared. And if you're really really nervous... try practicing talking out loud at home (feel like you sound stupid? it doesn't matter, no one can hear you & it'll get you used to the sound of your own voice). Anyone who hasn't enough practice hates public speaking - you just need practice!
Hi Sandsy68! I noticed your post on Nikel's wall regarding nerves, and I wanted to say don't worry, I'm in the same boat! Getting up in front of groups and talking really freaks me out and it will probably be one of the biggest challenges for me on this internship. I consider myself a social person but not a performer. But that's part of the reason for doing this too, to put myself outside my comfort zone and challenge myself. So you could think of it in that way. In any case, rest assured that you're not the only one who is worried about this - I'm sure there are others too! Have you registered yet or are you still thinking about it?
Im not all knowlagable on the particular group but they started off as something that focussed on Art schemes for run down areas and stuff like that but over the past few years they have been helping people do all sorts of things from other schemes for run down areas to buying suits for people to wear in job interviews.....just google it and you will find out tons of things on it...there are loadsa thinggs like that just gotta keep looking...educational funding is a good one as well...i hope this helps you!! let me know if it does :)
Hi Tony, what do you know of the Princes Trust?
i didnt so much raise the cash i just used the money i had for this rather than somethin else. I did the 120hr stuff last summer with a different group that provides the same thing and then i got some money off the internship as i did not have to do the first bit. Then because im at university at the moment i get funding so instead of buying course materials and books etc i paid for this instead. Then i just worked a few extra hours to pay getting to university and rent etc. Boring story but thats how i managed it lol. Try and look at student funding and stuff like that as you are going on a course so they might be able to offer you something...or maybe princes trust or something like that
