Yayyy! Well done :D x
Hey nice to hear from you :) You made any decisions yet? x
Hi Phoenix 2010,
Thanks for your information and your total honest i still have not applied yet but great advice like you
have given me will help me make my decision. And so far there seems defintely more pros then cons of doing
the internship, travelling and teaching!:-0) How come you opted to go into alone? Was that just preference?
How do you find Thai life overall? Sounds like you have really thrown yourself into. Thanks again and will def
be keeping track as your adventure continues....... Did you ever visit Lopburi in Thailand i believe thats
where all the interns will be placed in that surrounding area:-)
Hello SammyB,
The Thailand internship is a great experience. Some people have used it to travel, I've used it to learn about Thailand and its people. A few people decided to continue teaching. Some sent resumes on their own, others used agencies, in my case some hard work, luck, and marvellous folks at my school landed me a second term at the same school. The Director of the school asked me back. I also have the support of the i-to-i Thailand team. They've been great and were a source of invaluable advice and encouragement.
My case is a little different from the typical intern. I offered to be placed alone. I got my wish and landed in a little village in a school with students from kindergarten to highschool level 3. I teach all classes from elementary grade 4 and up. It requires a lot of planning, every class being a little different. Support from the teachers has been great (especially form the non English Thai teachers), and I also have the full support of my Director. I try to be part of the community as much as possible. Also, I try to be part of the school life. I walk the grounds everyday as much as I can, greet the students (in English of course). I try to help out with some the school tasks. I show an interest in the students, in the school.
To sum it up, be part of the school's and students life. If they see you are genuinely interested and you care, someone will notice. Learn about the Thai ways. Difficult sometime to understand and one can easily get frustrated. Spending time with Thai folks will go a long way in understanding life in Thailand. They will also help you a lot with behaviour, rules, and how to go about things (this is a must). And remember to have fun, in and out of class.

hey sammy. how are you? any progress on booking the internship!? what are your thoughts? I'm so excited about it! x

Hiya,
Once the 4.5 months is over you're in a great position to find another teaching contract in Thailand - which quite a few people did from the last intake, including this guy: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/phoenix2010. I know he's going back to the same school as the one he interned at, but there are plenty of other jobs to be had!
Hope that helps!
Hey Sammie
R u still considering the Thailand Internship? I have booked today :)

Hope that helps - good luck in your job hunt!
