I can honestly say when I decided to sign up to get my TEFL Certificates I had no idea what I was in for!
After nearly 3 months, a lot of patience and persistance I've finally completed 100 hours worth of courses and I couldn't be happier. I learned way more than I would have ever expected, and I feel much more competent and confident to teach English now (even though I substitute taught in the past for 3 years).
At the moment I'm not looking to start teaching, but perhaps down the road I will. I know more than a few people who have quit their day jobs to start teaching English abroad and couldn't be happier.
I just have a feeling that someday down the road I will end up in front of class teaching English, and I look foward to it.

congrats on completing the course, I'm not far behind you and its such a great feeling.
Can't wait to read about your first placement
colsonb2011,
Thanks for the advice. For the last few years I've been back and forth living part time mostly in Thailand. I'm getting to the point where I'm getting tired of the back and forth, I like it there so much better at than the States at the moment. I don't want to have the regrets of feeling like I should have done it years ago, but it may be too late for that. I agree the sooner the better, I'm roughly the same age as you, and we're definitely not getting any younger!
Go as soon as possible. I wish I had started 2 years ago! The income level and lifestyle are much better than life in the US.
