Lots of laughing in lessons!

I’ve just had the best lessons this morning with grade 6!!! My second class had me laughing so much! Real characters. For my lesson this week I’ve been doing ‘directions’, and so I’d made lots of pictures of places so that I could put them up on the board to create a map. I had them telling me directions, then had them up in pairs, and blindfolded one who had to be directed to walk their hands around to find different places. They just think the panda mask is hilarious (they look sooo funny!) After that I had one student up from each team and they all had to listen to me give directions to somewhere on the map, and then the winner was the first one to touch it. They loved this game! Always up for some competition!

Grade 3 on Monday was even more fun!!!!  I’d decided to revise body parts and clothes with them. I’d drawn two big pictures of people to stick on the board, and flashcards with body parts written on them. After going through the words with them (without reminding what they all were) I split the class into two and had them race to label the bodies. They found some bits hard! I’d thrown in some new ones like elbows and knees, so they ended up in strange places!  After that I drew a suitcase on the board and said I was packed to go on holiday. I’d brought in a bag of my clothes and had them guess what I’d packed. After writing the words on the board and giving points for correct guesses, I chose some students to come  and  dress up in different items – and there began the fun! As I am sure you can imagine, getting to dress up in their teacher’s clothes resulted in a lot of laughter and general excitement! After they realised what I was asking them to do they ALL wanted to come up to the front and join in! I had them describing what each child was wearing, so they were practising ‘he/she is wearing’ and then ‘I am wearing’. It worked really well and I was laughing almost as much as them!  After the lesson finished, they all wanted to stay and help pack, but really they just wanted another chance to play dressing up...

Hey Rozel (Or is your name Rose?  Sorry!)

Wonderful ideas!  Sounds like you are a natural teacher!  Love all your pix, too.
