Sitting here, drinking tea from my latest care package from home, and eating croissants from my favourite bakery is just about balancing out the fact that it is RAINING and my wallet got stolen AGAIN…yes, it’s just one of those annoying things that happen – particularly within a few short weeks since last time! I am gradually shaking off the annoyance I feel. Gradually… The worst part is losing (both times) a wallet that was a gift from a friend, photos inside (first time) and recently bought presents (today…) ok, ok… need to forget about it now.
So, moving on – what’s been happening this week? Well, I am happy to report we now have a shiny new washing machine! Ours died a death a few weeks ago and since then it’s been a fun job of rinsing and wringing things out by hand. My other happy thought was briefly mentioned above – yes, my lovely family sent me out not only my favourite tea, but also some more hot chocolate and some pasta sauces…I foresee some ‘home cooking’ in the near future! I've already invited my friend Lorna from school over to repay the lovely Chinese meal I had cooked for me at her place. I wonder what she'll make of my cooking?! Might have a trial run first...
I am currently camped out in my office again (internet has died at home too…) with Lady GaGa – ‘Pokerface’ – blaring out from the sound system throughout the school. It’s likely to be on repeat for at least 4 times in a row, as has been happening the last few days. It could be worse?! Oh, spoke too soon…some child is speaking bad, unintelligible English which can be heard throughout the whole of the primary school building…see, should never complain about Lady GaGa! Ah, she’s back on now. Ooh, and a selection of other English songs! Pleasant suprise!
Ok, I really don’t have much to say today I’m afraid. I think the main thing is look after your stuff in China! And bring a big stash of teabags and hot chocolate from home…

I don't know if you do this, but pickpockets are common in New Orleans, where I'm from, so I've had to learn to deal with them as well. I keep one credit card at home always, and my wallet never has any cash in it. Cash stays in my right front pocket, and if I'm walking through a crowd my hand stays on it. So, at most I lose one card (which I'm not responsible for fraudulent charges on) and documents.
Wallets... :-( Thanks Sam, I am looking forward to a hot choc curled up watching some movies with the girls later! Can't believe how cold it has turned this evening! I'm actually wearing a cardigan! Hope you are well x
Oh what bad luck! Sorry to hear about your wallet, but hey look on the plus side, nothing can cheer you up better than a good old hot chocolate!
