Feedback on my interview in Madrid...

Hi everyone!

I haven't been online much lately, I know! I wish I followed this website more, but lately a few things happened and I haven't been able to...

Well, first of all I received an email from the person who interviewed me in Madrid two weeks ago! This is the text of that email:

"Dear Romina,

Thank you for sending me the information I requested and please excuse the delay in replying to you.

I have given extensive consideration to your application and I regret to inform you that you have not been successful on this occasion. Your interest in our company is greatly appreciated and I thank you for taking the trouble to attend an interview with us.

Best wishes in your future career "

So, looks like I'm not going to Madrid for the moment...I knew it though but I would have expected a little more explanation on why I wasn't accepted. I guess I asked too many questions!!

Anyway, I actually didn't ask either, so...

On the other hand, I was awarded a huge, one-year marketing translation project, which I've already started to work on and which pays pretty well. Then, on Monday I started to teach Spanish (the irony of it, huh?) in a company and one of my students of Italian called me the other day saying he's planning to start another course in a couple of weeks... And then I still have kindergarten kids till the end of May (although I've realized I'm much more at ease with teaching adults, I must say...)!!

All's well that ends well in the end, then!! :P Anyway, I'm still waiting for an answer from the ex-partner school in Madrid... Here's hoping!! Guess I can't give up on Spain just now!! :P

I'll let you know how the situation develops! Meanwhile, have a nice rest of the week, everyone!!

XOXO

Romina

I'll keep you updated!

Hi Ruth,

Thank you for your comment. Truth is, I haven't been on this website much in the last few months, so I haven't updated my situation...

Actually, I've been working here in my hometown in Italy, teaching English and Italian to employees of a major company, and then I also have my activity as freelance translator (which is my main job, anyway) going pretty well, so I really must say it was good that I eventually didn't get that job in Madrid.

And after reading  your testimonial, I appreciate this even more. I actually 'smelled' something weird when he talked to me about the 'training' but I wanted to give the school the benefit of the doubt, but the truth is I should have trusted the first impression.

Anyway, as I said in my previous post, all's well that ends well, so... I hope you were luckier too after that experience, though. I guess things like this can teach us a lot!!

Well, good luck with your career then and thank you for sharing your experience!

Have just recently joined the site- so don't know if your situation is dramatically different y now, but I would say not getting involved with them was a lucky escape! :-) I did get through and was offered the"training" but then was sent various emails, and with every one, the condition and the salary offered were dramatically different from the initial conversations. I was SO diappointed, because I had done two residential weeks as an anglo volunteer and thoroughly enjoyed it.
