Feedback on my interview in Madrid...

Hi everyone! I haven't been online much lately, I know! I wish I followed this website more, but lately a few things happened and I haven't been able to... Well, first of all I received an email from the person who interviewed me in Madrid two weeks ago! This is the text of that email: "Dear Romina, Thank you for sending me the information I requested and please excuse the delay in replying to you....

First interview in Madrid...Not much impressed!

Hi guys! I'm finally back on Chalkboard, after a few days in which I haven't had time to connect. Well, so last week I went to Madrid for my interview, as enthusiastic as I could be... Apart from a very bad start (plane awfully late, broken glasses) I arrived 'safely' at the interview. And I wasn't much impressed, actually! I don't know if this is normal in other countries (because in Italy it isn't) but...

Updates

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice week. Mine was quite hectic, actually - which is good, considering I usually worry about not having enough work!! Last Saturday I went to a Fair Trade exhibition in Milan and it was the first time I visited it on my own. I must admit I pretty much liked it, because I had time to see what I liked and I took my time without worrying about...

I'm a survivor (aka 'first day at the kindergarten'!!)!

Today was my first day of teaching ESL at the kindergarten...Wow, tough job!! :) I know, it was the first day, and it's also the first time I'm teaching kids this young (3-5), but I must say I'm pretty tired now!! Five-year-olds were ok; they've already been exposed to English and they already know a few things, so that wasn't too hard! Then, fortunately, the class was split in two groups, so I had to...

Vaughan Systems anyone?

Hi everyone! As some of you may already know from my previews blog posts, I'm currently in the process of arranging a face to face interview with Vaughan Systems in Madrid. Now, I was wondering if any of you has already worked for them (I've seen a few posts on Pueblo Inglés but nothing specifically on them)! I would appreciate any comment (you can also send me a private message if you want)! I do...

Latest episode of the soap opera 'Applying for TEFL jobs'...

So, after a few attempts I finally managed to call Vaughan Systems and speak to the Recruitment Manager... :) He was very kind, actually, and the 'scary' telephone interview was limited to just a couple of questions I could answer without too much effort! Next step, he's sending me some material and information in order to arrange a face-to-face interview in Madrid (which, now that I think of it, could also be a good opportunity...

Sooo nervous!!!

So, I applied for a job at Vaughan System, in Spain, about a week ago and I received an email this morning telling me to call them for a preliminary telephone interview...And now I'm really nervous!!!!! I know this doesn't mean that I'd be offered a job, and then telephone interviews always make me nervous (I'm much more confident face-to-face), but I'm really starting to freak out... :P But then again, maybe I should just...

Unbelievable!!!

It's really unbelievable! The job I was about to start tomorrow has literally slipped from my hands... It has been given to someone else due to political affiliation... I'm really mad right now, because this person is apparently someone who's just taken an English course but is going to teach these children without any sort of qualifications!!!! That's Italy!! Guess I should have seen this coming!! Trouble is, this friend of mine who owns the...

Got the job!!!

So, I got the job at last! I'm starting to teache kindergarten kids next week!!! Although the number of hours per week has been reduced from 5 to 2.5 due to too many activities... That's good anyway, so I'll have more time to prepare my lessons and tailor the activities for each group. I'm really excited and nervous now and I hope I'll do well!! :P Right now, I would accept any advice coming from...

New teaching adventure

After three years of teaching to adults and teenagers, I'm (hopefully) about to embark on a new career journey: teaching to kindergarten children (aged 3-5)!! A friend of mine owns a kindergarten and asked me last week if I was interested in teaching English to children attending it. At first, I was scared to death at the mere idea, then I thought of it and finally started to feel excited about it! I went to...
