Home Sweet Home

Just back from a great, even though wet, time in Thailand.

Floods have prevented me visiting the village of Khonburi where I plan to teach in the future. There is always next year to visit again. I was staying at a guesthouse in Bangkok where the group of i-to-i Thailand interns were waiting for the water to clear up north. Would like to know what happened to their plans of teaching for the allocated time?? There was no way you could safely get to some of the places they were planning to go to.

I had to change my travel plans and instead of staying in Khorat ended up an extra 10 days in Chiang Mai which is not so bad, had plenty of rest and relaxation and even got time to do a one day massage course as well as the planned batik course that I just love doing whenever I get to Chiang Mai. I can highly reccommend this to anyone and if you are interested look up Chiang Mai Batik School.

Hope everyone is safe and staying dry wherever you are teaching. The whole of Asia seems to be in some sort of flood/tsunami/typhoon crisis at the moment. Take care

Hi Nayani,

Yes Thailand is my second home. I try to visit at least twice a year and a few years back was lucky enough to be there three or four times a year but my teaching here is slowing my travel down a bit at the moment. I stay at KT Guesthouse everytime I am in Bangkok and Nit and her family are great friends and we keep in touch.

I was supposed to be staying in Khorat district this trip to spend time at my friends home in a small village just south of Khorat city but the floods prevented my travelling up there. I did however get to stay in Chiang Mai for 10 days instead and had a wonderful time, it too is a great place to kick back and unwind for a week or two. I try to get to CMX every visit to go to the dentist and do some batik school. My friends from Khorat managed to get a bus out and meet me in Bangkok for three days before I came home so it all turned out OK. I got to see the kids and my friend and had a wonderful time.

Great fun.

Enjoy you time in Thailand. It is an easy place to fall in love with!

Thanks for the information on the interns, I appreciate it.
Cheers

Robyn

Hiya! I'm from i-to-i (not an intern) but I was lucky enough to be with the interns in Thailand. Basically, the organisers arranged for them to all go to Ban Phe (to a full moon party as well) and do a bit of exploring while their in-country contact worked with all the schools to confirm safe (and dry) placements.

The interns are now all placed and have begun their teaching :) A few of them vouched for a placement near Pattaya as there were no flood issues there and the schools really needed 6 teachers pronto and the rest are now in and around Lop Buri.

Hope you enjoyed your time in Thailand! It was my first time there and I completely fell in love with it!
