Not quite literally happening but doesn’t every guy who contracts an illness say that?
Yes I caught bug this week, something in my gastro but all is almost well and after 3 days of probably food poisoning I am getting better. Monday was when it started and I was at work with fever and stomach cramp overnight that developed into really bad cramps so I went to the doctor, Always a wise idea when in a foreign country as you never know how serious it might actually be, for example a colleague caught typhoid last year and was off work for almost a month. The cost is quite cheap too, and most schools offer medical cover although I used all mine when I caught mumps last year. Anyway The doctors examination and medication came to a mere $6.50 (4 types of medication).
After not eating for all that time I am quite hungry and think tonight I will eat at Jia Noodle, They have a very tasty beef curry on baked rice that isn’t spicy but is filling!
The new schedule is in and I was shocked to find I would be working 3-9pm every day which is around 27 teaching hours, but I they have cancelled 1 class due to too few students so I am back to normal 23 teaching hours. I work 6hrs Monday, Wednesday and Friday but I finish at 6:30pm Tuesday and Thursday which gives me enough time to go home, get changed and pick up Astrid from work at 7:30pm.
Valentines day is just around the corner and here in Asia we also have Chinese new year to look forward to on the same day. Can’t divulge too much info as Astrid reads my blogs but as she already knows I am taking her to a Chinese restaurant near where we live. There might even be a special something I will say to her too! ;-) I think she already knows anyway!
Two of my students on Monday who have been pestering management for me to teach them again said the nicest thing to me at the end of class, Bagas one of the boys shook my hand and said with a big smile on his face ‘Welcome back Sir!’ and Jane just said ‘Great to have you back Mr. Robert’. This is maybe my favorite part of teaching, when you have students who really enjoy your classes and really want you to be their teacher. I also have another student who hates it when class is over, he nearly cries sometimes (did I mention he is 19?).
I heard today that we are also getting two new teachers in addition to Lauren who is arriving tonight. They are both guys and I am not sure if they are members of Chalkboard but if you are we look forward to meeting you. We have been told one is from England and the other is an ex-plumber from bonny Scotland!
On Saturday I had maybe the longest haircut of my life, I also had a hot shave too but I was in the chair for 90 minutes. I was surprised when I noticed how long it had taken, The great thing about going to these places is you also get a head massage and a jasmine green tea included for free! You would never get that back in the UK.
Next weekend is my girlfriends fathers birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY and on Sunday we may be going to Taman Safari, which is a Safari park in Bogor. So keep looking out for photos.
Finally just to appologise for the lack of photos I have uploaded this is due to my internet connection at home (and the WiFi at work) being disastrously slow. I will try and take some time out to get the photos uploaded in the coming days/week.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy February and as always any questions/comments please use the box below. Remember to vote on how you enjoyed my blog.
Robert

Heres some advice if anyone is planning on going to china, get up to date with your vaccinations (hepatitis A and B, tetanus and whatever your physician recommends). I suggest getting the "Dukoral" oral vaccine for travellers diarrhea. I contracted it once when i went to china in 2005 for the first time and it lasted a good 10 days so i got the vaccine the next time i went to china in 2007 and it worked.
feel better soon!
