Teaching with Limited Resources

I DON'T WANT THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION BUT I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE SOME GUIDANCE ON WHAT THE QUESTION IS ACTUALLY ASKING? I HAVE CONTACTED MY TUTORS BUT HAVE HAD NO REPLY AND I ONLY HAVE 4 DAYS LEFT TO COMPLETE THIS AND 3 MORE ASSIGNMENTS...THANKU :)   Imagine you're giving a speaking and vocabulary lesson about 'occupations' to a class of pre-intermediate level teenagers. The students know the basic present, past and future tenses....

Ah, The weekend.

Hey! It's the weekend - how good does it feel? haha. It's a lovely friday night here in New Zealand and I'm thinking back on the week and how hectic it's been in class, studies and life in general. The school I was doing voluntry teaching has labeled me a student teacher after much debate within the school and working through some red tape (If I can legally be in the classes and other legal...

Need Advice

Hi, I'm almost finished mt TEFL course and am eager to go abroad and put the theory into practice. I really don't know where to go, although I'm leaning towards Japan/China as I've always wanted to go there. I'm not fussy about how much money id earn, I just want to see a part of the world and earn enough to get by. I still have a small bit left to do before I finish...

The Dive

Wow, I just signed up for my 140hr Combined course after receiving the go ahead of my dad. (I know, I am an adult etc etc, but still my dad is the stability when my thoughts run riot & my enthusiasm get's the best of me..) In Jan 2011 I'll be doing the classroom training, so in the mean time I can get to grips with the course. I hope I can remain focussed with the...

Rejected. What do I do now?

So I got a letter from Interac saying that they're not inviting me to any interviews...   Basically, the only reason why I went about trying to get a TEFL certificate in i-to-i has just turned around and told me they don't want me.   What do I do now? I don't know if I'm able to finish the TEFL course, if the Interac company just turned my application down. I'm up a creek without...

did somebody say 'free plane tickets?'

Even at home, a year can be like a mountain full of treachorus terainn alternating with flower filled pastures, breathtaking waterfalls and bubbling brooks; the occasional mountain lion or rattlesnake, surprise thunderstorm.  The most imminent danger here mostly lurks in the form of playing taxi cab roulette,  sometimes the trails aren't so peaceful, too many people and there's garbage everywhere. (Pardon my cliches) a year like a mountain, days like hills up and down, up...

Wednesday - 3:12 pm

So my family figured that it was about time I stopped taking Spanish courses and took French ones instead - because I was iving in Belgium for quite a while and spoke only two words - Bonjour, Salut. I think they did this because they knew that I took Spanish classes for fun. So just as I finished my Bachelors thesis, I was enrolled in a French language institution. My admission process was late, but...

Total hip replacement update

As of this writing, its 3:00am of Wednesday, the 10th of November in the year of our Lord, 2010. My total hip replacement surgery was Monday, the 1st, so I'm what... 9.5 days in. I wish I could tell you everything is going great, but I'm honestly not sure. I can imagine it being a whole lot worse but I know I'm not feeling as well as some of the glowing reports.   Part of...

WOW how time flies

I've just realised its been nearly a month since I posted an entry and I really dont know where the time has gone. As the saying goes 'time flies when you are having fun" so I'll put it down to that! Teaching my students has been a challenge with all the construction work going on at school. We are bombarded with crash, bang, screach and at times it feels like our own building is going...
