kamsa hamnida

This morning I got up early for my medical at the hospital to avoid the queues and had a hot shower with shower gel and some form of shampoo and conditioner and everything - amazing! (I take back the dissing of the shower!) Then I walked to the hospital, about 20 minutes away, to be put through an odd process of tests including urine, blood, x-ray, blood pressure, eye sight, hearing, height, weight and electrocardiogram, being pointed from room to room...

First day in Jeju, South Korea!

I suppose I should begin by introducing myself; I'm Liz, a 25-year-old blog virgin from England, who was finding life was becoming a little unfulfilling and who, newly single, set out to look for an adventure in which to be free, experience a new culture, help others and discover what more there is to life! And that is how I've come to find myself today as an English teacher in Jeju, an island off the South coast of S.Korea! It's all very...

First Chinese Christmas

Firstly I have to say that while the Chinese don't celebrate Christmas they sure know how to party!! I started off on Christmas Eve with the arrival of the senior teachers to my apartment just as I had finished work with a bloody big Xmas tree complete with decorations, tinsel and fairy lights! Lots of photos taken for the school and the head No. 2 made a speech in Chinese (hence I understood very little)...

Handan, parties and hi-tech hotpots!

Well, been a while! I actually didn't like Handan when I first got here, but now I love it! Recently, me and my fella broke up, which is all good. So I've been spending a lot more time with Chinese people and my Mandarin is coming along a lot better for it! Over the festive season, we didn't get much time off. Just a long weekend, but had a great time in the few nightclubs...

120hr online course vs 140hr combined course?

Since i have no previous teaching experience and want as good a foundation as possible before starting on my teaching career i have been looking at tefl courses and have settled on either the 120hr online course or the 140hr combined course. The most obvious difference for me is the 300euro price difference between the two.The 120hr is 470euro and the 140hr combined is 770euro.Bloody expensive if you ask me but necessary if i want...

Technology

I remember my first computer not being very exciting. It was a Commodore PC that used the large floppy disc and later brought out and adaptor so we could use the smaller floppy discs - it had a few games, one being a santa knock-off of mario - it also had an infrared remote control that was crap. I also remember the BBC computers at school, with the green writing and pressing 'Y' for yes or...
