The Road Goes Ever on and on...

Hello all you lovely people, I'll have you know that I am still in training, but now I've actually got my company polo shirt! Tomorrow (Friday for me) I have 2 demo assessments, which means that I have to give a class in front of several of my peers and have them assess me and give me feedback on what I've done. EVOLC makes volunteer ESL teaching easy!

As a volunteer for not-for-profit group English Volunteers for Change [EVOLC], which placed me at Escuela Nueva Laboratorio in the Costa Rican capital of San Jose for five weeks, I have nothing but praise. For one’s first assignment teaching I’d have to say I lucked out! I received an outstanding introduction to teaching ESL, and EVOLC organiser Alexandra Johnson placed me with a great host family living less than five minutes from the school in the...

A dream which became a fantastic reality

2005 was a time I felt I needed to broaden my horizons and gain more knowledge in a subject I would enjoy. I was 27 years old and had travelled to many places either alone or with other people but I felt that I had not truly immersed myself into the countries and cultures enough and I wanted to pursue a REAL travel experience. I found I-to-I and I visited their office in Leeds (conveniently...
