Comments - How to Survive Your TEFL Course
Oh that picture looks like a palace compared to some of the places I've stayed during my TEFL career...so yes I agree with Kiki (Spiwak)...'don't be afraid to get your hands dirty' and it really won't be a walk in the park! Chances are standards probably won't be what you get in your home country....but then where would the fun be in that? :-)
And don't forget the biscuits Honor!!
The only recommendation I have is in reference to the Classroom Course. While the course is actually fun (it's not as painful as you'd think!), you still need to be fully awake and functioning for a long Saturday and Sunday. I made the mistake of staying up too late the night before and completely losing my voice! While the lesson-planning was a breeze, the delivery of it (with no voice!) was not so easy BUT I still passed (with flying colours if I may say so myself :) ).
I guess... just "Don't Take It Too Easy on the Classroom Course!"
Never underestimate the power of tea I say! That stuff will carry you through anything...
Good advice!!! The only one I think should be in there is "Don't Be Afraid to Get Your Hands Dirty" as in don't be afraid to do tons of research on everything you doubt or don't understand. Google is your friend during your TEFL course and for looking for jobs if you are doing it independently! :)
