Comments - A squatters life in Japan

lol I'll cross that bridge when I come to it - I've been on holiday to places where a whole in the ground is the toilet (even in Italy) and it was an ... um ... 'experience' and not one I'd like to repeat in a hurry

oh good at least 'normal' toilets are about, but a choice in toilets ?? It just gets better hah I've read about the musical toilets before, which reminds me of the musical highway in Japan I suppose you've heard of it/been on it at some point (you've been there a while haven't you ??)

hahah that sounds insane - can't imagine a toilet needing instructions !! But then I guess with all those buttons it's just asking for trouble if you don't do what it says ;)

a she-pee may work for peeing, but what if you need the other!!!

But dont worry, in big cities, especially where there are many foreigners, they have western toilets - sometimes they have a choice - quite a few asians prefer squat toilets.

one time, when i went to use a toilet, it actually had a picture of how to use it (with smaller pictures or how not to use it) for other asian people - it had korean, chinese etc instructions!

Squatting !?! I can't think of anything worse of a toilet - sounds like Hell lol
A lifetime subscription to she-pee sounds like it would be in order xD
But good warning =P

Traveling any place away from your country of birth brings new chalenges. It is wonderful that you have shared something Westeners will need to know within hours of arriving...how to potty in Japan and I would think many other places. Santitation solutions very and travellers need to understand that. (Some toilets in Britian still have the tank well above the seat, look for the chain and gentley pull to flush.)

As Dorothy said, ' I don't think we are in Kanasas any more.'
