Comments - Music!
Interesting post M-T, I've definately noticed I can focus better without music.
I used to listen to classical or progressive rock whilst studying. Now though I just find music to be a distraction. I listen to plenty if I'm not working though. My current favourite is the album 'Diamond Eyes' by Deftones. Here's a link to the title track:

I can only listen to classical or something easy listening and wordless when actually studying... but when I'm taking a break or needing a sanity check it's all sorts of stuff! :)
You know, the problem of music is that you perform less in whatever you are currently doing. I read once in a book (the animator's survival kit) that the old professional animators didn't listen to music because they are not smart enough to do 2 things at the same time. Now I don't believe they weren't smart, but it is true. Apparently, younger animators who where audiophiles and people from other jobs who tried to do without immediately noticed the quality of their work go up and less time needed and frustration going into it. I've tried it, and whenever I need to study something serious, I don't listen to music. It may sound weird, but it really helps you focus if you're in fact NOT listening to music.
ps. I like the youtube song you posted. :P
I like everything that makes me relaxed. Currently I like the yoshida brothers, Kila, the Tossers, Sa sa dingding, the RZA and a few others.
