Ok, so nothing is set in stone yet but I am trying to get a transfer to a more central location of Japan.
This is where you come in...
I have narrowed it down to Osaka, Nagoya and Kyoto City.
(As to whether they will consider me in Kyoto is a bit unweary at the moment because my company has limited placements there - but Osaka and Nagoya i do have a good chance)
Of course if only one was available it would be so much easier but in this case i have somewhat of a choice...
So which place would you recommend and why?

I've been reading up on place, and I agree (from what I've read) that Kyoto would be too touristy. Osaka looks beautiful! Go Osaka! :P
i want to visit kyoto but as you said its touristy which is why im unsure if i want to live there...my friend got all defensive about it and couldnt understand why i hadnt even considered kyoto...so at least im getting other peoples opinions, which will help make a better decision
Personally I think Osaka is way better to live in than Kyoto - I find Kyoto really too touristy. I also have some friends who lived in Osaka for a while and they couldn't recommend it enough!
Thanks steve - My friend is trying to convince me to live in Kyoto, I was thinking of living near there so i could visit it - i thought if i lived in kyoto eventually i would get bored of everything, at least by living near it i can go every now and then so i can enjoy it...my friend got all defensive when i said this and couldnt understand why i didnt have it as my first choice, or only choice...at the end of the day i still need my companies approval but i also want other peoples opinions
