About Me

Hey!!
My name is Paddy. I am currently in the final year of a 4year Media Technology course and trying to decide what to do once this is finished.
Teaching English abroad is something I am seriously looking into and would love to do. At the moment I feel a bit lost of how the whole process works so any advice would be muchly appreciated.
I am particularly interested in teaching in Japan or Argentina.

Hi, welcome to chalkboard...

I did a 3 year film and tv course - although prior to this i had moved from one uni to another before settling in York - the reason for York being that at the time of starting my course ITV had plans to expand more in the north and so did the BBC...but by the time of completing my degree all this had stopped...

So just like you i had no idea what i was going to do - i wanted to use my degree and well going to japan you need a degree for the visa...

I also wanted to do something useful - teaching is very rewarding and even if you do it for a year it looks good and can open many more doors...

I also wanted to have money behind me - if i didnt spend like i do i would easily be able to save a fair bit...

So whats next - for japan a 120hrs tefl course is preferred (i-to-i is the most recognised here)...then you need to apply...interac is the main company - you might have missed the March intake so i would aim for the august/september intake... you might want to give i-to-i a call they are very helpful

if you want to know more about japan - check out the forum, my profile or just ask

Paul
