As travel becomes easier and the recession drags on in the UK, increasing numbers of people are choosing to live, work and teach English abroad, it has been stated.
Manager of the London Olympia event the Language Show Shirry Liram said this week that most people in the UK have either worked abroad or know somebody who does.
Furthermore, this also accelerates the need or people to branch out and learn new languages – something they can do after taking a TEFL course and heading off to teach English abroad.
Ms Liram continued: "The world is becoming smaller and more people travel or work abroad or have partners or friends from abroad. People almost need to know another language."
Meanwhile research from travelsupermarket.com last month showed that 62 per cent of British holidaymakers are embarrassed by their inability to speak another language.
Just four per cent of those surveyed said their ideal holiday would be in an English-speaking country.
