Turkey ‘popular with British house buyers’

TEFL teachers who want to work in Europe but are worried about property prices may wish to consider Turkey.

Giovanna Gentile, PR executive of Atlas International, explained it was becoming an increasingly popular destination for people to purchase a primary or holiday home.

As it is not in the eurozone, he continued, Turkey has not been affected by the same poor exchange rates.

There are even some areas in the country which are performing well despite the global economic downturn – such as Antalya and Fethiye, said Mr Gentile.

"In Didim, prices from £27,000 for a one-bed apartment … with two year’s rental guarantee are attracting buyers from all over Europe – especially the UK."

He concluded that buyers were able to pay in sterling and generally the value of accommodation was lower than most other countries in the continent.

The Travel Association published a report last month which predicted Turkey will receive a significant increase in British visitors this year.

Other locations it forecasted will be hotpots for 2009 included Egypt and Mexico.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19001620-ADNFCR
