Travelling abroad at Christmas time ‘could be a great experience’

Posted 26 Oct 2009

TEFL certificate holders considering teaching English abroad may find that Christmas time could be great for visiting another country.

This is according to the author of Lonely Planet publication A Year of Festivals James Bainbridge, who points out that there are multitudes of festive events occurring abroad during the winter months.

He pointed out that just because Britain tends to wind down as the colder weather sets in, travellers may find that other locations take a very contrary approach.

"This time of year with the dark months coming in is a great time for big colourful gatherings that bring people together," he added.

An article featured on online resource Shelter Offshore last week claimed that those teaching English abroad who are concerned about having less money to live on need not worry, as day-to-day items such as fuel, food and alcohol are often cheaper abroad.
