Anyone planning to head abroad this bank holiday weekend should anticipate for added congestion at Britain's airports.
That is according to flight search company Skyscanner, which explained that check-in for flights could take up to an hour longer than usual due to the number of people taking short breaks abroad over the long weekend.
Gareth Williams, chief executive of the company, said: "Bank holidays are notoriously busy and this has been the most searched for weekend we've seen this year so we anticipate hundreds of additional British holiday makers will be flying off."
He recommended those travelling to London airports also factor in roadworks on the M25 and increased traffic on the streets of the capital.
"We are urging travellers to build in at least an extra hour in to their journey time to avoid missing flights."
Some 1.8 million Brits are expected to be flying out of the UK this weekend, making it an extremely hectic time for anyone considering travelling abroad for longer than the bank holiday period.
