Travel to Asia ’growing in popularity’

Posted 30 Aug 2010

More people are taking trips to Asia on short holidays, as part of round-the-world trips.

According to a new survey by Visa and the Pacific Asia Travel Association, Japan is the second-most popular destination in the region after Australia.

Commenting on the findings, Adam Waldock, a marketing assistant at travel company Trailfinders, suggested that these countries have become much more accessible for travellers from the UK.

On Japan, he said that the distinctive differences to western culture are one of the biggest draws.

"It's a contrast between extremely advanced western practices and the taste of the orient as well," Mr Waldock concluded.

The travel expert highlighted Bali and Indonesia as other places worth visiting in Asia, further adding: "China is becoming very big now, it's becoming easier to get around. India is massive as well – everyone is dying to go to India now."

With places at universities and businesses incredibly constricted at the time being, more people may consider taking time out to travel overseas to these locations.ADNFCR-2167-ID-800044480-ADNFCR
