Buying goods from their host country is not something that often presents problems for those teaching English abroad, it has been reported.
VietNamNet Bridge reports that business paper Saigon Tiep Thi recently conducted research on how comfortable expats are with buying items made in their new host country.
Speaking to 25-year-old American John Dillingham, who currently lives in Ho Chi Minh City, the publication found that he prefers to eat rice grown in the Mekong Delta rather than that imported from locations such as Thailand.
Canadian Miles Fah told the newspaper that when it comes to beer, he now likes to drink Saigon brews.
Korean-born Lee One Seek also admitted to the news provider that despite being a Starbucks addict before living in Vietnam, he now favours coffee grown in the country’s highlands.
Meanwhile, those teaching English in Vietnam could find that other career opportunities open up for them while they are in the country, Thanhnien News stated last week.
