Those planning to move abroad to teach English should check that their air fares cover the new hike in flight tax in order to avoid any nasty surprises.
The Guardian reports that many passengers are not aware that Air Passenger Duty (APD) will increase from November 1st and that some travellers may be faced with a 50 per cent price hike.
APD is an excise duty that is charged on the carriage of more than 20 passengers from a UK airport.
From the beginning of next month, those taking a long-haul flight, which may apply to those travelling to teach English abroad, may be faced with an added charge of £84 if they are flying to places like China.
Travelzoo has claimed that many Brits are not aware of the price hike and insists they should check with their travel agent if they intend to fly soon.
Phil Salcedo, publisher at Travelzoo UK, told the news provider: "The sad fact is that around 30 per cent of the travel deals that we check simply don't include taxes in the price."
He added that tourists should be wary and make sure the price they expect to pay does not unexpectedly increase.
