Those moving to China will soon have a wider choice of hotel

Posted 03 Sep 2010

People moving to China in order to teach English will have more choice when it comes to the hotel they wish to stay in when they first arrive in the country.

That is because Sheraton is set to open eight more hotels in China by the end of the year and another 18 by 2015.

The firm already has establishments in Beijing and Shanghai, but will be opening its first hotel in Guangzhou later this year.

Guangzhou is the largest city in southern china and the third biggest overall. Its annual average temperature is 21C and it has a lot to offer those who visit.

TEFL-qualified people who plan to teach English in China and stay in Guangzhou could visit a folk arts museum, temples, cathedrals and a number of memorial parks.

Sheraton is a branch of the Starwood Hotel and Resorts Worldwide Inc and once it has opened these eight establishments, it will run a total of 30 hotels in the region.

Simon Turner, president of global development at Starwood, said: "We are delighted to expand Sheraton in established cities like Beijing and Shanghai, while simultaneously introducing the iconic hotel brand to emerging business hubs and resort destinations."
