TEFL teachers ‘need to assess their strengths and weaknesses’

Posted 29 Apr 2010

When applying for TEFL jobs, teachers need to look at their strengths and weaknesses and decide what would be most suitable for them, it has been claimed.

According to the American Actress blog, different TEFL jobs have specific requirements and will require teachers to demonstrate different skills in the classroom.

"You will need to assess your strengths and weaknesses when deciding which position is right for you. Working with professional adults is nothing like working with children," the source said.

The blog went on to add that those who have significant experience in the industry could expand their horizons by applying for TEFL jobs which involve the training of new teachers.

Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, recently stated that while the salary is important, there are other things to consider when searching and applying for jobs.

He stressed that job security in particular is an important consideration, with those looking for TEFL jobs wanting their position to exist for the foreseeable future.
