TEFL certificate ‘reassuring for employers’

Posted 29 Jan 2010

A TEFL certificate is a great qualification to have as it indicates to potential employers that a person has the proficiency needed to teach English to people in another country.

This is the claim of a Literacy News article, which suggested the accreditation can make it easier to secure a job, as it demonstrates that an individual has "graduated from a series of intensive classes" to give them the required expertise.

"Having that certificate ensures the employer that as a teacher you have been trained how to teach and possess the skills to be successful," the piece declared.

Earlier this month, a survey indicated that employers value hands-on experience over academic credentials when offering people jobs.

The Studengems.com study found 61 per cent believe that real life experience is better, while 41 per cent prefer vocational qualifications to university degrees.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19588154-ADNFCR
