TEFL a chance to “view the world”

Posted 26 Jan 2009

One student believes that teaching English in Mexico will allow her to "view the world through one more set of eyes", it has been reported.

Jenna Emiliani is in her final year studying Spanish and Italian at James Madison University, the Breeze reported.

She believes that living abroad is a great way to experience another culture and has already spent time in Italy, Spain and Chile, Ms Emiliani told the student newspaper.

Now she is thinking about completing a TEFL course and using the qualification to teach in Mexico because that is where her father went to medical school and she has only ever visited the tourist hotspots.

Ms Emiliani stated her knowledge of languages will allow her to immerse herself in the country and it will make her think about her long-term goals.

She said: "This experience will help me decide if I’d like to translate, teach or go into hospitality."

According to the Lonely Planet, Mexico City and Guadalajara are the best locations in the Latin American country to teach English. ADNFCR-2167-ID-18992601-ADNFCR
