Teaching is a popular profession but some may find it difficult to find a job as the education sector is oversupplied.
On September 26th, the Scottish Liberal Democrats revealed that typically 17 people apply for each teaching vacancy in the country, meaning that some will miss out.
Gary Brace, chief executive officer of the General Teaching Council of Wales, stated that teaching is also a popular career choice in Wales.
He said: "Teaching has always been a popular profession in Wales because of the huge job satisfaction it offers individuals.
"However, we have said on a number of occasions that there is an oversupply of new entrants, particularly in primary school education, leading to disappointment for a significant number of people who train for the profession and can't secure permanent jobs."
However, youngsters should not be put off from a career in teaching but could research what types of teacher are needed, Mr Brace added.
Those who wish to pursue a career in education could take a TEFL course instead of competing in a competitive job market.
That is because completing a TEFL course can train someone how to teach English abroad.
