The Asian countries of Thailand and Singapore are two of expats’ top ten countries in which to live globally, it has been discovered.
Coming closely behind Canada and Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Bahrain were found to be among the favourite places for migrants by the HSBC International Expat Experience Report.
Criteria such as how easy it is to find healthcare facilities, pay utilities, learn the local language and make friends were evaluated.
The contrasts between this and bank’s first study – which examined the monetary considerations of moving overseas – suggests that emotional and financial wellbeing are two very different aspects, said Alan Smith, head of international wealth management at the bank.
"Many of the top performers in our first report, which examined the best places to make and save money, have scored towards the bottom of this report’s league table," he explained.
Meanwhile, the jobs shortage created by the recession means that those teaching English abroad after taking TEFL courses need not worry that they will miss out on their perfect careers while they away, according to i-to-i.
