Taking a TEFL course and teaching English in Taiwan is an option that more and more people are taking.
According to the China Post, Taiwan – with its unique blend of Chinese and international cultures – is "a hotspot for many foreigners".
However, although the island has seen an influx of teaching English abroad candidates in recent years, with this comes the need to protect their rights, the newspaper added.
According to the news provider, the Taiwan International Workers’ Association (TIWA) is striving to help English teachers who work in private language institutes in the country.
"The very first problem foreign workers usually come across is the contract, which often is written only in Chinese," Wu Jing-ru, the secretary-general of TIWA explained to the publication.
In related news, Mary Anne Thompson, president of international employment firm Going Global, told CNN earlier this month that mainland China could be an ideal destination for teaching English abroad.
