People currently taking TEFL online courses and hoping to teach English overseas may find the perfect location in Nepal, it has been suggested.
This option certainly provided an unforgettable experience for one couple, as they wrote in the Great Falls Tribune of their experiences in the country teaching Buddhist monks on the Swayambhunath hillside near Kathmandu.
Jim Heckel, director of the Great Falls Public Library, along with his wife Pam wanted to do something special before retirement and saw teaching English in Nepal as the perfect option, Mr Heckel wrote in the newspaper.
"The sight of a classroom full of monks doing the hokey-pokey is the oddest and in many ways, symbolises the surprise and delight we found there", he explained.
Additionally, the couple stated that the monks were ideal students, being "eager to learn, bright and extremely focused".
Meanwhile, in August, former Bollywood star Uttam Sanjel opened Nepal’s tenth ‘bamboo school’ – education institutions that are so called due to the low cost of the materials used in their construction, AFP reported.
