Teaching English abroad ‘helps TEFL student think on his feet’

Posted 31 Mar 2010

One student teaching English in China has found that he can think on his feet much better than he could before, as a result of the experience in his TEFL job.

The 21-year-old teacher found that he is able to react much better to situations, even if he was a little baffled by a class full of two-year-old students.

Roberts121 wrote on his i-to-i Chalboard blog: "I’ve kind of put together a structure for most of my lessons including drilling, games, chants and pair-work that can be adapted to any topic."

He explained that he finds the whole process fun and has been especially happy taking on Chinese cultural traditions such as mid-afternoon karaoke sessions.

The teaching English in China student described how these are much more fun than the late-night affairs he is used to back home in the UK.

There could be more tourists heading to Asia in the future, according to new figures from the Executive Board of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, which predict annual increases of 2.7 per cent from 2010 to 2012.ADNFCR-2167-ID-19700486-ADNFCR
