Youngsters struggling to find cash for TEFL placements abroad could find inspiration in the daring fundraising exploits of two teachers from Norfolk.
Suzie Johnson and Joss Outred, who both teach English at Diss High School, took part in tandem skydives last month, reports the Diss Mercury.
Their courage secured sponsorship funds to help cover the cost of a trip to a twin school in Sri Lanka alongside 11 students and two other members of staff.
The group will visit Jalthara Maha Vidyalaya school in October where they will help teach English, as well as taking lessons in dance, music and PE.
As well as raising money for the trip, students have also been collecting teaching resources such as book, games and stationery.
In other TEFL fundraising news, a head teacher from Hartlepool recently shaved off his trademark beard and moustache in front of his entire school to support two colleagues’ trip to Ghana this summer to teach English, the Hartlepool Mail reports.
